Issue Position

David demanded BP compensate fishermen, oystermen and shrimpers affected by the Gulf oil spill.

Shortly after the Deepwater Horizon oil rig began spewing crude oil into the Gulf of Mexico, David called for BP - which managed the well - to compensate thousands of fishermen, oystermen and shrimpers whose businesses were severely affected.

When some state elected officials appeared to trivialize the spill and its effects on the Coast, David publicly let them know first-hand the seriousness of the disaster to our seafood industry, industry, and environment.

David joined other Coast lawmakers to back legislation that decreased the tax burden for people affected by the oil spill.
